![]() Personally speaking, it would be real useful to have a Linux version so as to avoid WinPE at all :). It would save a lot of time in some cases so we wouldn't have to disassemble a PC to attempt to recover some files from it that might have been accidentally erased. Hello, This is my system: i7-2700k CPU 16 MB Memory ASUS P8P67 DELUXE Windows 7 Professional 64 bit ( Service Pack 1) I updated the BIOS for my ASUS P8P67 Deluxe motherboard and in the process the computer rebooted with the four WD Green 1.5 TB SATA RAID 10 drives set to AHCI in the BIOS. ![]() Like for use on a WinPE type bootable environment. Though I do agree with the others that I would really like it to be usable on a USB stick. Both programs used the same hard drive image I created before that HD died completely so the conditions were the same. ![]() Although Windows can use a part of the disk for Storage Spaces and another part of the same disk for regular volumes, ReclaiMe Storage Spaces Recovery doesnt work with such configurations. Running the same drive through Reclaim me got me less files but all files were playable and complete. ReclaiMe Storage Spaces Recovery extracts spaces only from the drives that belong to a pool entirely. ReclaiMe File Recovery comes in 3 versions: Evaluation, Standard, and Ultimate The Standard version can recover files from Windows drives while the Ultimate one also supports Mac and Linux storage. ZAR (Zero Assumption Recovery) seemed to recover more files, but everything was fragmented and very few files were playable or complete, since the drive was a MythTV hard drive with recorded TV shows on it, it was easy to see if what was recovered was correct. To be fair though only 2 out of the 3 other utilities, could recover data because the filesystem involved was Linux EXT3. I use this and another 2 and of the 3 in my toolbox this one recovered the most working files. Lito I bought this and used it to recover a some files from a bad HD, I can tell you it is one of the better ones. Other than that, I do highly recommend the program. The one thing about all programs like this, is the larger the drive the longer it takes to scan, so if you spent an hour scanning a drive, then get interrupted for some reason, you either have to keep the program running in the background (sometimes not possible), or you have to restart from the beginning which is a lot of time wasted. One feature I'd like to see added, is a way to save the current scanned state so you can come back later without having to rescan the drive/image file from scratch. ![]() It supports loading a raw disk image also which is great if you backed up the HD using a drive imaging program like dd in linux. I have used it to recover files in a useable format from a broken linux ext2 HD and a Mac HFS that a few other programs gave me in fragments that were broken. However, unlike R-Studio, R-Linux cannot recover data over network or reconstruct RAIDs, or provide object copy. R-Linux uses the same InteligentScan technology as R-Studio, and flexible parameter settings to provide the fastest and most reliable file recovery for the Linux platform. I have used several of these recovery programs, and this one is definitely the best when dealing with non Windows disks. R-Linux is a free file recovery utility for the Ext2/Ext3/Ext4 FS file system used in the Linux OS and several Unixes. I bought it last time around and it's very useful. Lito I know it's a bit pricey, but this program is well worth the money.
